Two Seasons, Two Experiences

Cambodia operates on a tropical monsoon calendar with two distinct seasons:

Dry Season (November – April)

This is peak tourist season — and for good reason. Skies are clear, roads are dry, and temples like Angkor Wat look their best. Expect higher hotel prices and more visitors at major sites.

Best months: December, January, February

Wet Season (May – October)

The countryside turns lush green and crowds thin out. Some roads can flood after heavy rain, though Tap's local drivers know the safe routes. Prices for accommodation drop noticeably.

Best months: June, September

How Season Affects Road Travel

  • Dry season roads are smooth and fast — the Phnom Penh to Siem Reap run averages 5.5 hours.
  • Wet season roads can add 30–60 minutes to journeys, especially on provincial routes. Our drivers monitor conditions in real time.

Festival Highlights

  • Khmer New Year (April) — festive and busy; book travel early
  • Water Festival / Bon Om Touk (November) — spectacular in Phnom Penh; roads are very busy around the event
